Susan Hill

Dame Susan Elizabeth Hill, Lady Wells DBE (Scarborough, North Yorkshire, 5 februari 1942) is een Engelse schrijfster van fictie en non-fictie. Haar romans omvatten ''The Woman in Black'', dat werd bewerkt voor toneel en film, ''The Mist in the Mirror'' en ''I'm the King of the Castle'', waarvoor zij in 1971 de Somerset Maugham Award ontving. In 1972 won zij de Whitbread Novel Award voor ''The Bird of Night'', dat tevens op de shortlist stond voor de Booker Prize.

Zij werd in 2012 benoemd tot ''Commander of the Order of the British Empire'' (CBE) en in 2020 tot ''Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire'' (DBE), beide keren voor haar verdiensten voor de literatuur. Door Wikipedia aangeleverd
